Gogu Winery Metafora Orange 2020 White

A top-class orange wine. The radiant color in the glass - gold and amber - immediately gives an idea of the fine pleasure. An incredibly fascinating and delicate play of aromas jumps into the air with hints of ripe apricots, honeydew melon and raisins. Also fine nutmeg, rose petals, some mint, green tea and fennel, everything dances, playful, fragrant and very clear and precise in the aroma despite the mash fermentation. Spicy dry on the palate with some tannic grip and hints of fresh pears and citrus with hints of green apple. Incredibly juicy, fresh and traversed by a wonderful acid trail.

The lingering finish shows an incredible amount of power and wonderful elegance.Demanding and extraordinary!

Manufactured using traditional winemaking technology for red wine, i.e. the grapes are fermented on the skins, Ilie dispenses with temperature control and relies on spontaneous fermentation to bring out the terroir and individual character. Since most of the aromatic substances are in the grape skin, you can gain significantly more aroma through mash fermentation or even temper/stop it. Due to the long maceration time of 60 days, the winemaker succeeded in gaining a clear and precise aroma with this orange wine made from Muskat Ottonel grapes, which many perceive as a grape variety with a strong scent.

For this wine, the grapes were harvested and destemmed exclusively by hand at the end of October when they were at their optimum ripeness. Only after 60 days of fermentation on the mash were the berries gently pressed. Expansion in stainless steel tanks.

An ideal culinary accompaniment for vegetable or fish dishes and seafood. Preferably chilled, but not too cold and drink from larger glasses so that the wine can develop fully.
